2017 Dog Park Permits

We sell Dog Park Permits on behalf of the Louisville Dog Run Association.and are pleased to be able to provide this convenient service to our customers. 100% of the fees are sent to the association. We do not run the parks and we do not create the rules.

Permits are available at these Feeders Supply locations: Baxter, St. Matthews, Middletown, Fern Creek, Hikes Point, Springhurst, Holiday Manor, Pewee Valley, Preston, and Dixie Highway.

To apply you MUST BRING copies of the following with you when you come to the store:

  • Proof of required rabies vaccination (Recommended vaccinations: Parvo, Distemper, and Kennel Cough (Bordetella) )
  • Louisville Metro Animal Services registration (license) or registration for your county of residence.
  • Completed Louisville Dog Run Association application

Fees: The cost of the 2017 Dog Park Permit is $35 for the first dog, $25 for the second dog, $15 for the third dog, and $10 per additional dog in the same household.
All requests for adding dogs to exisitng permits or for replacement fobs must be made directly to and approved by the Louisville Dog Run Association. Email them at info@louisvilledogs.com to request a change or replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I have to sign up for each park? No, you have to choose a home park. However, if you ever want to visit one of the other dog parks you may do so.

2. How many permits are available right now? Permits are available for all dog run locations which include: Sawyer, Champions, Cochran Hill, Old Louisville, Vettiner, The Barklands of Floyds Fork. Waverly and Elizabeth Cleland Cauley Dog Park in Oldham County.

3. If I had a dog park permit in 2016, do I have to provide vaccination and licensing information again? Yes.

4. What vaccinations are required? Rabies is required. Parvo, Distemper and Kennel Cough (also known as Bordetella) are highly recommended. LDRA also recommends your dog be on a flea and heartworm preventative, but this isn’t required.

5. Where do I get the Louisville Metro Animal Services registration? You can apply at your vet’s office, at LMAS main shelter at 3705 Manslick Rd., at LMAS Animal House at 3516 Newburg Rd. or on the web at https://louisvilleky.gov/government/animal-services/services/license-your-pet

6. Do I have to obtain a Louisville Metro dog license if I live outside of Louisville Metro? No, but all dogs must be licensed in the county of their owner’s residence, as required by County Ordinance and Kentucky State Law. If, however, your county does not require a license, you must secure a Jefferson County license.

 7. How long does it take for my mail-in application to be processed? Louisville Dog Run Association staff typically checks the mail twice each week, but if you submit your materials in person at one of the Feeders Supply locations you get your permit instantly.

8. If I buy a 2017 permit now, do I have to wait until January 1 to start using the dog runs? No.

Louisville Dog Run Association Dog Park Permits

The Louisville Dog Run Association’s primary goal is to oversee the maintenance and continued improvement of dog parks in our community. Since the LDRA does not receive funds from any local or state governmental agency, all users of the dog parks will be required to have an official Dog Park Permit to use the area. This type of system has been used very successfully in many communities across the nation.

The cost of the 2017 Dog Park Permit is $35 for the first dog, $25 for the second dog, $15  for the third dog, and $10 per additional dog in the same household. All funds from the sale of the Dog Park Permits will go towards the dog parks’ maintenance and improvement costs. The permit will allow unlimited use of the dog parks through December 31, 2017.

New Albany

We sell Dog Park Permits on behalf of the New Albany Parks and Recreation Department’s New Albany Dog Park. We’re happy to give our customers this convenient opportunity to secure a Dog Park permit. 100% of the fees we collect are go to the Department. We do not run the parks and we do not create the rules.

Permits are available at our two New Albany stores: Grant Line and State Street

 

To apply you MUST BRING copies of the following with you when you come to the store:

  • A current copy of your pet’s rabies vaccination certification.  (Recommended vaccinations: Parvo, Distemper, Kennel Cough (Bordetella), Leptospirosis, and Canine Influenza)
  • A current copy of your City of New Albany dog license or registration for your county/community of residence.*
